 When going through a divorce the following information may be important or even required.

You will need information about your and your spouse's income.  This might include the following:

Documentation regarding income.  This might be in the form of a paycheck stub or receipt.  This may be used to estimate annual income for the present year.  If you or your spouse receives separate bonus or expense reimbursement checks, remember these also. 

Documentation regarding any business or consulting work.  This should include papers showing both income and expenses.

Federal and State Income Tax Returns for the past five years.

You will need information about your and your spouse's real estate.  This might include the following:

Property deeds.

Mortgage information, including loan balance, account number, and statements.

Information regarding the value of the property, purchase documents, tax records and appraisals.

You will need information about your and your spouse's checking and savings accounts.  This might include the following:

Statements from checking and savings accounts.

Retirement accounts, 401K accounts, IRA's, Annuities, pension plans.

Information about investments, mutual funds, certificate of deposits, stocks, and bonds.

You will need information about your and your spouse's debts.  This might include the following:

Credit card statements.

Account's payable.

Student loan statements.

Documentation regarding personal loans.

Medical bills.

You will need information about your and your spouse's insurance coverage.  This might include the following:

Copies of life insurance policies.

Information about medical insurance costs with a breakdown of costs for family spouse and children, policy numbers, and carrier.

Copies of auto insurance policies and statements.

You will need information about your and your spouse's vehiclesThis might include the following:

Copies of titles and registration for all personal vehicles.

Copies of titles and registration for recreational vehicles such as boats, ATV's, or RV's.

Statements regarding loans for any such vehicles.

Vehicle identification numbers or serial numbers for all vehicles.

You will need information about your monthly budget and living expenses. 

Prepare a current monthly budget.

Prepare an estimated monthly budget if you and your spouse will be separating.

You will need information about your and your spouse's personal property.  This might include the following:

A list of items you would like to keep and a list of items you would like your spouse to spouse to keep with estimated values for each item.

A list of items that belonged to you and to your spouse before you got married.

A list of property inherited both before and after your marriage.

A list of gifts you received from your spouse or others.

Receipts for valuable or expensive personal property.

Photographs of special or valuable items.
